Download and Install of FRAMES and the Earth Domain, and the iemWatersheds Domain

System Requirements
Windows XP Pro with SP3
2 GB hard disk space. Actual memory requirements will depend upon the software you choose to install.
Preparation of the Computer
1.Make sure that you have Administrative Privileges on you PC; otherwise, you will not be able to download the software correctly.
2.Make sure that you have JAVA 6 installed at C:ProgramFilesJavajre6. If not, then download and install JAVA 6 from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.
3.Make sure that environment variable JAVA_HOME is set to C:Program FilesJAVAjre6. To check if JAVA_HOME variable is set on your machine, right click on “My Computer” on your desktop, click on “Advanced” tab, then click on “Environment Variables.” Search for JAVA_HOME variable in “System Variables” list. If JAVA_HOME is missing in System Variables list, then click on “New” button and add JAVA_HOME as the variable name and C:Program FilesJavajre6 (make sure the slashes are correct) in the variable value text box. Click the OK button. You will see JAVA_HOME in the list.
Download Software and Appropriate Files
If you already have FRAMES installed on your machine, then perform Tasks 1, 2, and 3 first; otherwise, start from Task 4.
1.Make a copy of any files in your FRAMESV2 folder that you would like to keep.
2.Uninstall your current FRAMES.
3.Delete the FRAMESV2 folder from all locations in your computer’s directory structure.
4.Download Setup.exe from here (from Resources in FRAMES group on iemHub by clicking the “Download” button) for FRAMES core installation. All files should first be downloaded and SAVED in a temporary file before running any exe files. Do NOT run the exe files from the web site.
5.Do to the directory where you saved the files that you had downloaded, and install FRAMESV2 Core by running Setup.exe. Accept the default directory locations during installation. When the Domain selection dialog appears during installation, accept “Core” from the dropdown and press the OK button. FRAMES will launch itself. Close FRAMES. An icon for FRAMES will appear on your desktop.
The following three steps are for installing the iemWatersheds domain. Please note that if you plan to install both Earth and iemWatersheds domains, then the iemWatersheds domain must be installed before the Earth domain, otherwise the iemWaterhseds Domain installation will uninstall the Earth Domain.
6. Exit FRAMES, if you have it open. If you are in the Simulation Editor, this may require you going to File on the menu bar and clicking Exit; you may have to repeat this step. To install the iemWatersheds Domain, download iemWatershedsDomain.zip from iemHUB.org by clicking on “View All Supporting Documents” link, which exists in tiny print just below the FRAMES Download icon.
7.Unzip iemwaterhseds.zip in a temporary folder. You will see a folder called Documents in the unzipped files. Please open a file called iemWatershedsReamMe1st.doc in the Documents folder. This file will direct you to the installation directions file.
The following three steps are for installing the Earth Domain (with one of the example test cases).
8.Exit FRAMES, if you have it open. If you are in the Simulation Editor, this may require you going to File on the menu bar and clicking Exit; you may have to repeat this step. To install the Earth Domain, download EarthSetup.exe from iemHUB.org by clicking on “View All Supporting Documents” link, which exists in tiny print just below the FRAMES Download icon.
9.Run EarthSetup.exe, and select the “Custom” install option. Change the install directory to C:Program FilesiemTechnologiesFramesv2.
10.Select ALL of the “check” boxes (i.e., check all of the boxes), and proceed with the installation.
Run the Software by Exercising the Test Examples by Domain
1.If you are downloading and installing both the iemWatersheds and Earth Domains, then first download and install the iemWatersheds Domain. If you download and install the Earth Domain first, then its files will be wiped clean by the iemWatersheds Domain installation.
2.iemWatersheds Domain: Follow direction in iemWatershedsReamMe1st.doc in the Ducumtts directory
3.Earth Domain: If you would like to test the Earth Domain, then Download “EarthDomainDocumentation.zip” file iemHUB.org by clicking on “View All Supporting Documents” link, which exists in tiny print just below the FRAMES Download icon. Save the file on your machine first, then unzip it. If available, choose all subdirectories under the FRAMESV1 directory that did not get selected when selecting the parent directory. Open the document TestPlan.doc in unzipped files. Follow the test plan in the document. The Earth Domain example tutorial is located in the folder, titled “Earth Domain QMRA Tutorial_0710.” Within this folder are two PowerPoint presentations: one for PCs containing Mathcad (QMRA_Example_July 2010_MathCad_Rev5.ppt) and one for PCs without Mathcad loaded (QMRA_Example_July 2010_NoMathCad_Rev6.ppt). Open the appropriate tutorial and following the instructions.
